Sesame Seeds
Delicate and insignificant, these seeds have almost become forgotten. But these little seeds are so important to our diet.

Benefits:
1. High in manganese, calcium, copper, Vitamin B1, iron, zinc, and fiber
2. The copper is proven to help relieve rheumatoid arthritis
3. The calcium prevents bone loss from menopause, prevents osteoporosis, & strengthens teeth
4. Helps to lower cholesterol and prevent high blood pressure
5. More than 5 times the amount of protein than dairy milk. (Rat milk actually has the highest amount of protein. So if you want milk for protein, drink rat milk, not cow milk.)
6. The have the highest level of phytosterols, which help lower cholesterol
7. Maintain healthy skin

Cow's Milk vs. Sesame Seeds:
It's the age-old theory that dairy milk is the highest source of calcium. It's meeting its rival, for a variety of reasons than what I'm listing.
Sesame seeds have 1,160 mg calcium/100g serving. That's 10x more than dairy milk. The seeds are alkaline and dairy milk is acidic, making the seeds easier for the bones to absorb. Higher acid = higher calcium loss in bones! Sesame is a much higher and healthier source of calcium, causing absolutely no health problems either.

There's so much more they can do for your body, but these are just a few good things.

How to use: Put a couple tablespoons of the dry seeds in a coffee grinder and grind thoroughly for several seconds. Add them raw to smoothies, granola or cereal, or other foods. The taste is minimal and the benefits.

Lemon Juice
Stomach Cleanse: First thing in the morning while your stomach is still empty, put 2 Tb. lemon juice in 8 oz. of warm water. Drink and wait to eat for at least another hour to allow working time. The warm water and high acidity really helps aid the stomach in cleansing out any leftover waste to prepare for the upcoming food.

Relieve Acid Reflux: It's a common belief that acid reflex is caused from too much acid in the stomach, making acid flow back up into the esophagus and burning the linings. The pain is named heartburn.
Thus, we take a variety of antacids to neutralize the stomach's acidity by increasing the pH. But did you know that lowering the acid actually works against the body?
The stomach lies between two dividing sphincters: the cardiac (esophageal) sphincter, which divides the esophagus from the stomach, and the pyloric sphincter, which divides the stomach from the small intestine. As you eat, the brain signals the stomach to create more acid to digest the food. The esophageal sphincter stays closed as long as there is enough acid in the stomach. When there's a deficiency, the sphincter opens up, releasing acid into the esophagus, causing the acid reflux.

Simple Solution: Drink 1/2 cup of lemon juice and you'll soon have relief. Lemon juice has the same pH as stomach acid (pH of 2), allowing it to add more acid to the stomach to aid the digestion.
So substitute lemon juice for the antacids. You'll feel much better.
